Global-Climate Informed Farming [GCI-F] combines climate, soil, location,  and crop information to provide computed information to help farmers make appropriate decisions in their crop management practices. GCI-F uses real-time and projected information to estimate the water demand based on the crop type to provide information for the farmers when to schedule to water their farm / crops.

The scheduler uses primary data provided by the farmers and incorporates additional secondary information obtained from reliable sources along with the satellite imageries to compute the water demand and thereby determine the timing of watering for the crop at given location. Hence, the primary information provided by the farmer plays a pivotal role in computation and precise scheduling of  watering / irrigation.

At present, G-CIF majorly  focuses on conventional watering / irrigation methods, but it brings in complexities  as the calculations evolve and become fully functional. The user manual is being prepared to help assist the users and it will be regularly improved and updated with feedback from the users and practitioners.
